Quran vs modern science: amazing skin

ABOUT SERMON:

Another scientific proof that has been mentioned in The Holy Book Quran is about the skin and the fingerprint. According to Montagna (2020), the human skin covers the body’s surface, which offers protection to internal organs and is also responsible for the perception of sensory stimuli from the external surrounding. The skin has three tissue layers; the epidermis is the outermost protective layer. The stratum corneum is the layer that offers support and strength to the epidermis. The subcutis is a fatty layer responsible for supplying nutrients to the epidermis and the subcutis (Montagna, 2020).

For the skin to perceive sense from the external surroundings, it is equipped with numerous nerves specifically modified as receptor end organs, and others are less structured and come close to the surface layer. Threads of fine sensory nerves envelop almost every skin. There are four main receptors on the skin responsible for the response to pressure; these receptors respond to different kinds of senses. These receptors are Meissner, Merkel, Ruffini, and Pacinian. Meissner is responsible for light touch response, Merkel for pressure and texture response, Ruffini for a stretching sensation, and Pacinian for the sense of vibration and deep pressure (Montagna, 2020). It is this feature of the skin that enables human beings to sense pain or touch
